Heavy

Headlines get heavier and heavier

But somehow

We bare the weight

We don’t max out on tragedy

On assault and battery

And greedy schemes

And deferred dreams

We just keep going

Without question

And as empathy remains at risk

We just keep living

Living — like this?

The world keeps turning a blind eye

For the sake of ignorance

And bliss

Some weak ass shit

As strength evades us each and every day

Quietly

I say

Damn

No man

No woman

Is

Safe

Empathy

She is dying

But we can not resuscitate
